COMMENTS
It's right between a Funtana and a UCD... like the best combination of the two you could come up with. It's beyond light... it's majorly stable... and we set this one up with extreme throw, with the best hardware for some wild flying!

Joey started wrenching on it. Doesn't take much time to assemble one. Ssshhhwweeett. :-)
ASSEMBLY

First thing we did was decide on separate elevator halves. Instead of one standard size servo as per the manual, we went with two Hitec 5245 digital servos. Joey made a couple of reducing servo mounting plates out of 1/8 aircraft ply and glued them in with some Pacer 30min Z-POXY from ZAP. Next we went for a pull/pull rudder setup using a single Hitec 5945 servo. Also shown on the rudder servo is one of the new heavy duty servo arms that now come with the Hitec 5945 servos. We used DUBRO 4-40 all-thread for the elevator pushrods. Later we changed to the heavier DUBRO tailwheel with 1-1/4" DUBRO wheel to add some usable tail weight. That's also a DUBRO pull/pull system with DUBRO ball links. All the servos are mounted with Allen head servo screws from microfasteners

To sum up: Joey (my son) glued the tail together, mod'd things to accept two 5245 servos for the elevators, hinged it, and installed the two elevator servos, plus mounted the stock tailwheel. Dave Wilbur cut in the rudder servo and mounted it. Kyle Woyshnis installed the pull/pull cables, rudder and elevator control horns, and the pushrods. And, Ryan Vu went back and put Pacer ThreadLocker on all the metal to metal connections. I... at this point?... hadn't done a thing.

The elevators are large and have lots of throw! We can get more, but this is how much we're going with. Here's how much rudder throw we have dialed in. And, with the 5945 for power, it is fast and you must respect its "uh-thor-i-tay." We setup bevel to bevel on the ailerons... I didn't setup much expo and they were wickedly fun.
Very Happy

Joey glued up the wing, hinged the ailerons, and mounted up the 5245 servos (with servo screws from microfasteners.com), and also gapped sealed. Kyle installed the control horns and pushrods, and Ryan Threadlocked it up.

I put the 10oz DUBRO fuel tank as far back as I could. I made a light ply plate to hold it down. We used a Hitec 5245 digital servo on the throttle, too.  We went with a remote glow for easy igniter access. And, man that TruTurn Ultimate spinner sure looks great!

I've always preferred Byron fuels... and went with 35% nitro for this plane and engine. I had this shiny new 1-1/2 gallon Jersey Modeler can doing nothing... so I put it into service and it worked out great for my new glow fueler. We also used this Bryon Originals "LUBE BOOSTER -- AND BREAK-IN ADDITIVE" to bring the 16% oil up to 20% for the break-in. The Bryon Originals "LUBE BOOSTER -- AND BREAK-IN ADDITIVE" comes with a chart on the back to take your gallon of fuel from 12-20% oil up to 22% oil. In our case, the chart showed us we needed 5oz of additive to go from 16% oil to 20% oil. Even comes with a measuring cup... slick!

The 10oz DUBRO tank still had a 1/3 of a tank left after each 10min flight... even though we were running it rich.
